I was two years old when I started wearing hearing aids and I can't imagine my life without them. My hearing aids alone have greatly helped me, but the additional support with my FM system has been an incredible help in my studies because they allow me to be able to tune out background noises from air conditioning units, outside traffic, or general chatter in classrooms, so that I can focus on whomever is speaking.
The audiologist’s knowledge of current and new or evolving technologies has helped me get the most assistance possible to overcome many of the challenges due to my hearing impairment. They really do care that I am receiving the best from my hearing aids and are always willing to help me understand other assistive technologies that may help me, such as FM units, Bluetooth technology, and special alarm clocks and fire alarms. The support I get from Maico has helped me to be successful throughout middle school, high school, and college to date; in my work experiences thus far; and in my daily interactions with family, friends, and others.
At Maico, I feel like I am more than just a patient. Sandy Burkes-Campbell and the entire Maico team are always so welcoming and friendly, whether I am in the office for a scheduled audiological evaluation, for emergency maintenance on my hearing aids, for help with help with paperwork requesting accommodations for my hearing loss in school, or just to get a pack of batteries.

The staff at Maico is more attentive to my needs, and have always seen me promptly when I have a problem with my hearing aid. This is very important to me because I need my hearing aid all the time except when I’m sleeping.
My audiologist at Maico introduced me to an FM system which enabled me to hear everything being said at board meetings. My newest hearing aid enables me to hear almost as well at meetings. It is also more moisture resistant than aids I have had in the past.
I have had hearing problems for 35 years and I can’t imagine not seeing a professional audiologist who knows about improvements in hearing technology. I wouldn’t be able to hear without my hearing aids!

I have worn hearing aids for about 20 years and have been to MANY hearing aid dispensers and audiologists. I have a severe to profound hearing loss, with small ear canals and am very subject to occlusion. That combination makes for a challenging situation. By the time I went to see Sandy Burkes-Campbell, I was discouraged and unsatisfied with previous professionals and hearing aids. I spoke to Sandy on the phone before my initial visit, and she assured me we could work together to find the right aid and the experience would even be enjoyable.
I’m pleased to report that is exactly what happened. Not only has Sandy made this a pleasurable experience, but she was able to quickly determine the right hearing aid for my needs. She is well versed and skilled at programming the newest aids and is very detail oriented. Sandy has always treated me with respect and has handled each fitting as if the hearing aids were her own. There were times when I was willing to settle for situations that were less than ideal, but she was not. Sandy’s staff has been responsive, courteous and a joy to deal with.
